Santa visits for a month or so every year. The Menorah is around for eight special nights. New Year's Eve is a special celebration of old and new.

But holiday season isn't limited to that, Flag. We're all tired after the holidays, but we can wring a little more magic out of these short days and long nights. 

Why not take the family ice skating at Norfolk's Macarthur Center? You may be bundled against the cold, but gliding across the rink makes you feel weightless. Then find some hot cocoa and a fireplace — it's what you long for in summer.

The rink is up until January 20. Admission is $6, with skate rental an additional $6. Military personnel (with ID) and their families receive $1 off the admission price.
