Creating a DIY Nursery With Moving With the Military
November 27, 2018
The next installment of our collaboration series with Moving With the Military shows you how to create a DIY nursery on a budget. Everyone knows that babies are expensive, but you also want the best when you welcome your little one home. Use these simple tips for creating a cozy, stylish nursery at home with Lincoln Military Housing.
–Layer area rugs. Add some texture and interest by layering more than one rug in a diagonal pattern or in varying sizes on top of one another.
–Add colorful curtains. Hang curtains higher than the windows to make the ceiling look taller than it is. Use curtains in a color that suits the rest of the room’s theme, and don’t be afraid to go bold with stripes or patterns!
–Re-use furniture from other areas. While you’ll certainly have to invest in a crib, you don’t have to pay big bucks for other furniture pieces. Re-use a low dresser or credenza to create a changing table by adding a cozy cushion on top, or bring in a comfortable chair from another room to use as a rocking or feeding chair.
–Create a pegboard organizer. Paint a pegboard in a complementary color and use it as an organizer over the changing table. Add pegs and hang shelves or baskets to keep supplies organized.
–Make your own mobile. Use embroidery hoops, felt and yarn to create your own mobile to hang over the crib. Check out the video to see how!
