Decorating Your Rental Home on a Budget
February 26, 2019
Spring is just around the corner, which means spring cleaning — and maybe a little spring redecorating. If you’re in the mood to refresh your home, but you don’t quite have the funds for all new furniture, here are some tips for adding style and comfort on a small budget.
Replace the rugs. An affordable way to add color, texture and style to a room is by donating that old, musty rug and replacing it with something modern and transformative. Add an earthy jute rug for a neutral look, a colorful Oriental rug for a vintage look or a geometric patterned rug for a bold look.
Add some art. You don’t have to shell out big bucks on art; rather, you just need some creativity. Download some free printables online, or even create your own abstract artwork with acrylic paints and frames from your local craft store.
Revamp secondhand furniture. Whether you have a piece you already love or you find something with potential at the thrift store, sometimes all it takes to breathe new life into furniture is a coat of paint. Whitewash that dresser or add a pop of bold color to your dining chairs to create a whole new look.
Bring in more natural light. One of the best ways to transform the feeling of your space is by maximizing the natural light. Replace any heavy drapes or curtains with something sheer, or add some modern shades that you can raise and lower as you like.
Add some plants. Clean the air and bring a bit of the outdoors in by placing plants throughout your space. You’ll be amazed at what a huge difference plants make on a small budget!
